Episode 11 Future

2003, years after the day Satoru sank to the bottom of a frozen pond. He narrowly escaped from death, but was in a comatose state… until he suddenly awakens one day. Satoru is shocked by the truth, that he’s been “asleep” for 15 years and has lost his memories pertaining to the abductions. However, after realizing how devoted Sachiko has been to him over the years and how she steers him away from talking about the past, Satoru thinks to himself that maybe he doesn’t need to remember. Then a woman with a baby pays him a visit. It’s Kayo Hinazuki, whose life Satoru once saved. Moved to tears, he gives her his blessing. This incident serves as the trigger for Satoru to engage in rehab with twice as much determination and effort.
Autumn comes. In the hospital, Satoru has become friends with a girl named Kumi. He encourages her when she has anxiety over her upcoming bone marrow transplant. One day, the man in the hat, Nishizono, appears before both of them. Nishizono reveals himself as Gaku Yashiro, Satoru’s fifth-grade homeroom teacher…
Over the following days and weeks, Satoru continues his rehab while also socializing with Yashiro and Kumi. But even though his body is recovering, Satoru’s memories remain a closed book. The day before Kumi’s surgery, Satoru and Yashiro meet by coincidence right outside of her room. Satoru accepts Yashiro’s invitation to chat on the hospital roof. Amid the rain, Yashiro begins to speak of nostalgic memories from 15 years prior. But suddenly Satoru looks upon his former teacher with steel in his eyes.

“Yashiro, I have my memories back!”
